Jaime Andrade, art collector and dealer, will talk about his life and his 50 years in the world of art. He has worked for over 35 years with the prestigious Knoedler & Company Art Gallery. He will share his unique vision as a result of his direct contact and relationship with such artists as Rothko, Andy Warhol, Helen Frankenthaler, and Herbert Ferber, among other artists.
Upon arriving to the United States from Ecuador in 1962, Andrade developed a relationship with the David Herbert who was at the time considered the one of the best American portrait artists. Herbert was also the director of the important Graham Gallery. Andrade then become the direct assistant of Herbert’s work and also of his art collection. Andrade then met and worked with Lois Orswell who was one of the biggest customers of the Graham Gallery. Orswell later donated her collection to Fogg Art Museum at Harvard University. Andrade then met the collector Richard B. Baker and become the manager of his collection for over 40 years. Baker’s collection was later donated to Yale University. A major gift of Andrade’s personal collection of modern and pre-Columbian art has been donated to at the 2011 Queensborough Community College Art Gallery NY

Jaime Andrade, coleccionista y marchante de arte, nos cuenta anécdotas de su vida, su relación directa por mas de 35 años en la Knoedler & Company Art Gallery. Él compartirá su visión única como resultado de su contacto directo y la relación con artistas tales como Rothko, Andy Warhol, Helen Frankenthaler, y Herbert Ferber, entre otros.
Al llegar de Ecuador a los Estados Unidos en 1962, Jaime Andrade entra en relación directa con el mejor retratista americano David Herbert quien era en ese entonces director de la Graham Gallery. Andrade pasa a ser el asistente directo no solo de su obra sino también de su colección, donde conoce a una de las clientes más importantes de la galería la Sra. Lois Orswell colectora que posteriormente donara su colección a Fogg Art Museum, Harvard University, transcurrido un tiempo conoce al colector Richard B. Baker, pasando a ser el gerente de su colección por más de 40 años y posteriormente donarla a la universidad de Yale. Este amor por el arte hace que Andrade dedique su vida a coleccionar arte moderno y arte precolombino realizando una donación importante al museo Queensborough Community College Art Gallery, CUNY. Una vida llena de intensa experiencia con los artistas más importante de los Estados Unidos.
